Little Black Sambo was one of my favorite books when I was a preschooler. I had no prejudice against Black people. I never saw anything in the book that was negative towards Black people. Whether they were a Black Indian person or a Black African person or a Black American person.

It is a cute story that was mistakenly taken as derogatory towards Black African Americans.
Many Indian people have Black skin but the illustrators were probably only familiar with Black skinned African Americans.
