Summing It Up

Nietzsche is really trying to tell us that we all have an opportunity to create our own purpose in life. He is saying that in the past, we are told what our purpose was. In order to find our own purpose, we must first become educated camels before we can become the lions that reject authoritarian values. Once that is achieved, we become child-like, we start afresh and find our own purposes by building upon our own set of core values based on our education.

Through his metaphors Nietzsche is really trying to help us get through the suffering that comes with the pursuit of freedom to create our own values, to take the risks to find what we want from life. This is the process of individuation, where we create ourselves as new fresh individuals instead of obeying the rules and laws or what everybody else says.
