From Globe Magazine (my mother gets them monthly). Certainly not the most credible magazine but who knows…

"The bodies were taken to the local county medical examiner's office. Kennedy clan members immediately forbid officials from photographing JFK Jr.'s body. Officials granted their request - (even though photographic documentation of postmortems is considered standard procedure.)
So the decision represented an enormous breach of protocol, according to Dr. Edmund Donoghue, then president of the National Association of Medical Examiners and chief medical examiner of Cook County, Ill.
Such photographs are "very routine", said Donoghue at the time, noting his office photographed every autopsy for identification purposes - and to document injuries in case questions arose later.
But after quickie four-hour autopsies, all three bodies were rushed to the Doane, Beal and Ames funeral home in Hyannis, Mass., which had served the Kennedy family for decades and quickly cremated.
On July 22, the victims' ashes were scattered at see off Martha's Vineyard - less than 24 HOURS after their recovery!"
