I think the reason people are upset is because christianity has recently been at the front of this new trend of mocking religion. The issue being that these people would never mock any other religion, like islam.
It's not only this, the people participating in this are supposedly the people of "acceptance and inclusion". I think we all know that this would never happen if anyone decided to mock faggots and trannies on the one of the most watched television events of the year.

I think the problem is this being mocked on such a huge scale, hundreds of millions of people watching. Doing this is different than some big-ish twitter user tweeting about "how retarded christianity is". Political correctness is killing us, and it's a shame that people are allowed to mock christianity on such a large scal but God forbid anyone criticize the protected class.
