''Translation: "We should be grateful to our Billionaires; anyone can be a Billionaire" (especially if you sacrifice children to Satan)''
Timing, luck or talent - what makes a billionaire?
…The size of these fortunes can be hard to comprehend. A billion is a huge number - to give an idea of scale, one million seconds is 11 days, but a billion is 32 years.
And for some, the very existence of billionaires is obscene.
Eighty-one of the world's richest people - about a bus-full - have more combined wealth than the poorest four billion people in the world.
In a 2023 report on inequality, Oxfam concluded: "Every billionaire is a policy mistake. The very existence of booming billionaires and record profits, while most people face austerity, rising poverty, and a cost-of-living crisis, is evidence of an economic system that fails to deliver for humanity.”
That inequality has led to calls in many countries for taxes on absolute wealth rather than income. In the US, Democratic Party Senator Elizabeth Warren proposed a 2% tax on assets over $50m (£39m) and 3% on assets over $1bn (£778m).
But others argue the prospect of great wealth inspires creation and innovation that improves the lives of millions of people.
American economist Michael Strain argues we need more billionaires, not fewer, and cites Nobel prize winner William Nordhaus who found that about 2% of the returns from technological innovation go to the founders and inventors - the rest goes to society.
Strain calls billionaires “largely self-made innovators who have changed the way we live”. He cites examples such as Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer who revolutionised personal computing, legendary investor Warren Buffett, Jeff Bezos who upended retail, and Elon Musk who disrupted the automotive industry and space commerce.
“None of them are ‘policy failures’,” he concludes. “Rather than wishing they did not exist, we should be thrilled that they do.”

''Turkey has the largest army in NATO…''
NATO state threatens to invade Israel
Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan has opened up the prospect of sending troops into the Jewish state
Türkiye could ultimately “enter” Israel over the enduring conflict in the Gaza Strip between West Jerusalem and the Palestinian militant group Hamas, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has warned.
The president issued the threat on Sunday as he spoke during a rally of his ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP).
“We must be very strong so that Israel cannot strike Palestine,” Erdogan stated. “Just like we entered Karabakh and the way we entered Libya, maybe we'll do the same thing. There’s nothing we can’t do. We have to be strong.”
Türkiye’s leader referred to Ankara’s active participation in the Libyan civil war, as well as the recent hostilities in the Azerbaijani region of Karabakh. Baku, which emerged victorious in the conflict and regained control over the breakaway region, has been receiving support from both Israel and Türkiye, yet the purported direct participation of Ankara’s troops in the hostilities had not been reported before.
Last chance to prevent war with Lebanon – Israel
While Erdogan has long positioned himself as a major supporter of the Palestinian cause, he has abstained from threatening a direct invasion of Israel.
The hostile remarks come amid soaring tensions between Israel and the Lebanon-based militant group Hezbollah. West Jerusalem and the group have been locked into low intensity warfare for months already in the wake of the Gaza conflict, yet now the situation risks spiraling into an all-out war.
Israel accused Lebanon-based Islamist group Hezbollah on Saturday of launching a rocket that landed on a football field in Israeli-occupied Syria’s Golan Heights. The projectile killed at least 12 teenagers and children, primarily of Syrian Druze origin, and wounded about 20 others. Hezbollah has strongly denied any involvement, claiming the location was actually hit by a malfunctioned Israeli Iron Dome interceptor missile.

NATO is meant to be a purely 'defensive' alliance, and as such if Turkey invaded Israel for whatever reason, NATO allies could not be dragged into the war on the side of Turkey.
However, they migh decide or be blackmailed (ie Epstein Island/Mossad) to enter such a regional war on the side of Israel…
Yes, you are correct.
That is where it will get interesting fi you are watching from the sidelines.
It could lead to the effective breakup of NATO.
excellent meme, congratulations
>france is leaving nato shit and joining brics, traitor catholic scum
you're right; they were talking about it in 2023
though it would be harder now Macron is pushing for a full French involvement in the Ukraine war, with SF already there and taking casualties
which would mean that the US must act as a peace mediator between Turkey and Israel if Turkey invades, or the US then has extremely hard choices ahead
didn't see that
