EXTREMELY INTERESTING AND CONCERNING.
FARC, ELN, narco-cartel Clan del Golfo are in Venezuela fighting alongside Maduro. These groups signed a treaty with Colombia Government to end the Colombia internal war that displaced over 6,000,000 Colombia and largely disappeared. Now we know where they went.
Farc, ELN and Clan del Golfo are taking to the streets for Maduro.
In the context of communist or leftist movements in Latin America, these terms refer to specific armed groups in Colombia:
-
FARC (Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia): The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, which was a Marxist-Leninist guerrilla group that aimed to overthrow the Colombian government and establish a communist state. They were involved in the Colombian armed conflict for decades before signing a peace deal in 2016 and transitioning into a political party known as the Common Alternative Revolutionary Force (also FARC).
-
ELN (Ejército de Liberación Nacional): The National Liberation Army, another Marxist-Leninist guerrilla group in Colombia. Unlike FARC, ELN has not fully disarmed and continues its armed struggle against the Colombian government, advocating for social and economic reforms.
-
Clan del Golfo (Gulf Clan): This is not a communist group but rather a paramilitary and drug trafficking organization. It is the largest criminal gang in Colombia, emerging from the remnants of right-wing paramilitary groups. The Gulf Clan is involved in drug trafficking, illegal mining, and other criminal activities, and does not have a political ideology akin to FARC or ELN.
In "communist speak," FARC and ELN would be viewed as revolutionary groups fighting for social justice and equality, whereas the Clan del Golfo would be seen as a criminal organization opposing those revolutionary goals. However they are together, fighting for Maduro. This is not typical of their historical ideology.
