REDDING, Calif. - Winnemem Wintu Chief and Spiritual Leader Caleen Audry Sisk has been arrested for fraud, due to charges that have been filed by the Shasta County District Attorney.

According to representatives of her Democratic campaign for State Assembly District 1, Sisk is denying the charges. Action News Now reporter Spencer Joseph was told Sisk's attorney, Joe Gazzigli, will be issuing a statement on Thursday.

Sisk's next day in court will be on August 7, 2018. She is expected to make a plea on that date. The following day, August 8, 2018, is designated for her preliminary hearing.
