Gettys are evil and How Getty III lost his ear…

Her name was Talitha Pol. She was one of the most beautiful models/actresses of "Swinging 60s" London. A favorite of photogs David Bailey, Scavullo, Vogue, Life, & fashion/entertainment all over the globe. She was my Mother's flatmate & best friend.

Talitha was close with the Beatles, Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, and dated many handsome and famous men. At a dinner party she met an heir to the Getty fortune, who would become world famous in his own (horrific) way years later.

She married this Getty heir. Both embraced a bohemian lifestyle of hedonism. Talitha tried drugs, but it was Getty who grew addicted to heroin. NOT her. She was clean when her child was born & remained so. Yet after leaving her husband, she died in Italy of a massive O.D.

Her death spun into motion events resulting in the famous kidnapping/ear cut off; his 25 yr. addiction; and his knighthood. There's MUCH more to it. You'll know tomorrow when it's posted. (this photo from a series in LIFE which became world famous, showing the couple in Morocco)

Let me say this aloud: I SWEAR I did not know (until Mother told me a while ago) that today [Yesterday, July 11] is the anniversary of Talitha's death. Yes, I'm kinda freaked out by that since this package only arrived today. Yes, I hear the twilight zone theme in my head right about now.

CHRISTMAS 1971: "I cannot do this anymore sister. It has all gotten too swillzen, too crazy. I come to see you and stay with you. He is out of his mind. The women. The drugs. I will be there in one month if he not kill me. Meet me at Heathrow. Love to baby __" LOVE SISTER TALITHA

NEW YEAR 1971:"You must come get me. He has fucking guards watch me. His spies. Please sister. I cannot even get to the Embassy. Your ____ send me sweet gift but cannot get to them. Please come get me. Yes Belgravia? Like that but worse. I wait to see you." LOVE SISTER TALITHA

FEBRUARY 1971: A very strong woman flies into Rome airport, goes straight to the U.S. Embassy. With four guards, she marches to Piazza D'aracoeli for a standoff. In 10 mins. she walks out with Talitha Getty and her child. They fly back to London, untouched.

Talitha is locked in a flat, tended to by doctors, to get her over her drug detox. She asks for this - she is tired of that life. Her young son is cared for by nannies. The Strong Woman takes care of her; her own young son; and runs the house. While doing work for Rolling Stones.

MAY 1971: Talitha is off the heroin and is totally clean. Active and alive, and putting her life together. With Strong Woman's help, she gets lawyers to file divorce & custody and fight her drug addict, crazed husband in Italy - J. Paul Getty Jr. (worth $800mil in 1971).

JULY 9th 1971: The lawyers for Getty tell Talitha's lawyers they'll give her all she wants, plus custody (no pre-nup). All she has to do is try reconciliation. If not? She can sign papers in Rome. Strong Woman warns her not to. Talitha doesn't like fights. Will fly back to Italy.

JULY 11 1971: London, England: Call arrives. Strong woman is told Talitha is dead. Supposedly had a heart attack (with no history of bad health). Late that night Getty calls Strong Woman and says it was an accidental OD. Strong Woman calls bullshit. Tells him he will burn for it.

July 29th 1971: Strong Woman gets letter. From Talitha. Dated day of her arrival in Italy. "He is going to kill me. His father said if I get one cent he will revoke the trust. I should have listen to you. I know I will not make it home alive. Take care of ______ . LOVE SISTER.

Within 24 hours of receiving that letter, Strong Woman is met by an Italian-speaking American in London. A CIA Case Officer stationed at Embassy in Rome. He explains coroner's report to her. Bruised, beaten, forcibly drugged. Talitha was murdered. Getty's lawyers pay off coroner.

AUG 3rd 1971: Strong Woman flies to Italy. To meet family members. From Trapani, Sicily. And family members who work for US State Department. All in a very private meeting. She is determined and very angry.

In 1971 J. Paul Getty is the richest man alive. The kind of money that starts wars; influences elections; sets policy. The only thing more powerful? The Sicilian Mafia. The Strong Woman's blood family. She says "burn them all down. All of them. To the fucking ground."

The US State Dept.-CIA agree to "take off the gloves" and pull protection of Getty Jr. The Sicilian Mafia (Toto Riina himself) is there and tells the Woman's cousin, Mariano Agate, to farm "the work" out to the Calabresi 'Ndrangheta to avoid proof.

Two mobsters named Piromali and Mammoliti are given the job. Told to do anything they wish. Kidnap, kill, burn, bomb - whatever, so long as it is Getty that hurts. Knowing the shitstorm coming, the US State Dept. Official (& relative of Woman) transfers after overseeing plans.

J. Paul Getty Jr. has fled Italy, finding out about the orders. He flees to London. Hires 50 guards, including ex MI6 & SAS pros. He's untouchable. Hides in a fortress & "hospital" for protection. Lives in fear 24/7. Mafia destroys Getty's Italian operations piece by piece.

10 July 1973: Two years to the day of Talitha's death, J. Paul Getty III is kidnapped for ransom. Family refuses to pay. Ear cut off. Ransom paid, Getty finally released. Getty Jr. doesn't leave his compound for 10 years. State Dept. Official retires in 1975.

Mammoliti eventually becomes a protected witness in Italy, but never reveals who ordered Getty hit. Piromali is poisoned in jail to keep quiet, poisoned by order of Sicilian Mafia Commission.

No…and that's the entire point. JPG Jr. set this in motion when he murdered her. He was a coward who went and hid in England knowing the mafia was coming for him. The greedy mob took the son instead (far beyond my Mother's control). And the mafia paid for their mistake.

The Strong Woman buries her anger and vengeance, marries one of world's most powerful men. Moves to USA with her young son - who bears a name given to him by Talitha at birth. The entire Getty nightmare, set in motion by Talitha's murder. "Payback is a bitch" says Strong Woman.

…"and so am I" she says, a tear down her cheek. She has no regrets. "Talitha would've done it for me. You cannot understand that rage and anger. She was so sweet and helpless. Fuck Getty and everyone around him." The final word. That Strong Woman? My elderly Mother.

No - we are fine. Lawyers reviewed it and said "they can't sue you for the truth". The proof exists. Even though the killer is long dead. Mother is too old to give any shits. lol. She wants the record known, even through Twitter. At least people know now.
