Gov. Walz’s daughter apparently threatens to beat up Republican state senator
This is not the first time the Governor's daughter has leveraged her online presence in a questionable manner.
Hope Walz, the daughter of Democratic Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, apparently threatened to beat up Senate Majority Leader Paul Gazelka, R-East Gull Lake, on Twitter Saturday.
“i [sic] don’t know who will understand this but i [sic] guess that’s the point … paul gazelka [sic] it’s on site and i [sic] mean it,” the governor’s daughter wrote.
Although the term “on site” when used in this slang context lacks an official definition, the Urban Dictionary indicates that it means an individual is ready to use violence without hesitation.
“On sight means that when you have beef with somebody you automatically fight them. There is no talking it out,” states another Urban Dictionary entry.
Walz’s daughter then responded to criticism of her apparent threat by noting that Gazelka is a “grown ass man” while she’s a “5’4 19 year old girl.”
Hope’s Twitter profile is set to private, meaning most Twitter users are not able to view her posts. However, a screenshot of her recent statement directed at Gazelka was posted by someone authorized to view Hope’s account.
Hope’s account used to be public, but was switched to private during the Minneapolis riots when she used her online presence to relay what some believed to be insider information to individuals protesting in the streets.
“Could someone who actually has followers rely [sic] to the masses that … the [National] guard [sic] WILL NOT be present tonight?” she requested on May 28, the same night rioters burned down a six-story housing project and looted several stores.
Hope enrolled last year at the University of Minnesota.
Tensions between the governor and Gazelka are high as the Republican-controlled Senate recently used its confirmation powers to oust one of Walz’s commissioners.
