Qantas worker and former South Australian government contractor Hannah Neale fronts court after being charged with child sex offences

Alleged to be 'effectively living with him' while working for child protection

A Qantas employee and contractor for the SA Department of Child Protection has been accused of sexually abusing a child for 18 months.

Adelaide woman Hannah Neale, 29, broke down in tears in Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Thursday following her arrest in June and indicated she would fight the charges.

It is alleged Ms Neale sexually abused the teenage boy from December 2021 until July last year while employed as a residential carer for a partner organisation working with the government department.

During the period of her alleged offending she was effectively living with the 16-year-old boy who was under the guardianship of the minister, reported 7 News.

In her first court appearance she asked for her bail conditions to be varied to allow her within 500m of a school and to communicate with people under the age of 18 for her second job at the airport.

The court heard Ms Neale, from Evanston in the city's north-east, has no previous criminal history.

Her defence lawyer Tony Kerin said she has been employed with Qantas for a number of years and the company wanted to know if she could continue to work while the matter is before the court.

'It's quite clear from (that letter) she stands in high regard,' Mr Kerin said, as reported by The Adelaide Advertiser.

EU state charges journalist with ‘treason’

Estonia claims that Svetlana Burtseva wrote a ‘Russian hybrid war’ handbook

Estonia has accused reporter Svetlana Burtseva of treason, violating sanctions on Russia, and writing a book on “hybrid warfare” that sought to discredit state institutions.

Burtseva, 57, used to work for Sputnik Estonia until Tallinn banned it in 2019. She then allegedly wrote for the portal Baltnews, which the Estonian authorities claim is part of the sanctioned Rossiya Segodnya media group.

“Her texts were published in online news serving the interests of Russian propaganda,” State Prosecutor Eneli Laurits told the state broadcaster ERR on Tuesday, after the hearing at the Harju County Court.

According to prosecutors, Burtseva continued to write for Russian media after the EU ban and wrote a book titled ‘Hybrid War for Peace,’ under the pseudonym L.B. Svet.

“The content of the book belittles the Republic of Estonia and is thus aimed at dividing Estonian society and discrediting the Republic of Estonia and its institutions,” Laurits told the newspaper Postimees.

Former Alabama Football Player’s Family Accuses Hospital of Trying to “Kill Him” to Harvest Organs

Ahospital where a college football player died last week is speaking out following viral claims of organ harvesting at the medical facility in North Carolina.

Terrance Howard, 19-year-old Texas native and student at North Carolina Central University (NCCU), died on Thursday, weeks after he suffered injuries in a car accident that reportedly left him brain dead. During Howard’s hospitalization at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, his parents said in a series of videos posted on Facebook that the medical treatment their son was receiving was “a disgrace” because the hospital wanted to take him off of life support.

Bishop Anthony Allen, Howard’s father, noted on July 26, that “a lot of hospitals are quick to pull the plug.”

When Howard’s family requested a transfer to a different hospital, a staffer administered unknown drugs to Howard on Thursday, his family said. Allen suggested the hospital took Howard off of life support against the family’s wishes.

Howard’s mother suggested they were the victims of a sinister plot involving organ harvesting, an illegal practice defined by the International Society for Human Rights as “the selling and transplanting of the organs of victims.”

Howard’s mother claimed the hospital wanted “to kill my son because they want his organs” and accused doctors of “snickering and laughing” and refusing to help them.

“They want his organs,” Howard’s mother continued. “That’s what they told me in the beginning.”

Allen’s family, showing video footage of apparent police officers entering the hospital room, then claimed the hospital tried to criminalize them as arrests were threatened for alleged trespassing.

“They all participated in killing my son,” Allen said as he and his family were leaving the hospital. “They let my son die.”

Allen said Howard had “a heartbeat” and was “breathing on his own” while lamenting how the police officers “ran us out of the hospital.”

The videos in which Howard’s parents made their claims have since been deleted from Facebook. However, they were preserved via social media posts on X, formerly Twitter.
