That Lord Mountbatten was appointed Supreme Commander SEAC, South East Asia Command, the same rank as MacArthur, during WW2.

As part of his duties, he set up, and help run the SOE listening posts, that intercepted "enemy" communications in Ceylon.

Here is a bloke, very rich, extremely well connected, who has experience in setting up, and running espionage rings.

He set up the espionage ring's in India, using catamite's to lure public figures into blackmail.

He was then appointed Viceroy, obviously to capitalize on his intelligence operations.

The goal was to keep India in British ownership, but let the plebs think are free.

Hang on, didn't SOE become OSS, and then the CIA?
