#OTD in 1945, the Baltimore-class heavy cruiser USS Saint Paul (CA-73) became the last major warship to fire a salvo at the enemy during WWII, hitting Japanese iron and steel works in Kamaishi. The Saint Paul would also fire the final naval salvo of the Korean War in 1953.
