Yes, I see the reflections. The crowd is far away and mostly inside the hanger. It's perhaps misleading that the image makes it look like it's on the tarmac, but watch the videos! The crowd is there. There's nothing fake about it.

This makes us look unbelievably stupid and no one here should be defending it unless you can tell me I plain English where I'm seeing it wrong.

The reality was real. There were thousands of people in the hanger. Perspective is exactly what is causing the confusion. It's a real crowd, possibly doctored in some images to appear closer to the plane than it was.
