Abstract: The nature of how classes are executed at the United States Military Academy makes it a unique opportunity to assess the effectiveness of different pedagogical approaches. Core classes generally have dozens of small sections, often with students randomly assigned to sections, facilitating the opportunity for cluster randomized trials. I will discuss several recent studies including sectioning by demonstrated aptitude for a subject and use of technology in the classroom.
