Frederick officer’s undercover operation results in Fairfax County man’s arrest
The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office charged David Clay Murray, 48, of Fairfax County, Virginia, with five counts of sexual solicitation of a minor on Aug. 9.
The investigation started on Aug. 1 when an FCSO detective, posing as a 15-year-old girl – was conducting online undercover operations.
Murray began communicating with the detective through a messaging app, continuing to engage in sexual conversations and solicit sex acts despite repeatedly being told he was speaking with a 15-year-old.
A warrant was obtained and Murray was arrested in Fairfax County, where he is currently being held until his extradition to Maryland.
“This case is a very good example of agency cooperation and information sharing across state lines to take an offender off the street, and the importance of the ICAC (Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force Program)” Sheriff Chuck Jenkins said, urging parents to monitor their children’s activities on mobile apps, websites, and social media platforms.
