Used to use a 300 baud acoustic coupling mode from Radio Shack in the early 90s on my Atari 520STfm before I upgraded to a Falcon030 with an Atari SX212 at a whopping 1200 baud. Everyone else was like 9600 and 14.4 by then, but I was just happy to be able to dial in to the local BBS.
