what you describe (i will not argue about such comeuppance), is near at the heart of the conundrum We face. Legitimate Law Enforcement would be a very nice thing to have and to "Fund". However, the vast majority of those wearing such Costume today either can't comprehend, or choose to play dumb about the criminality and corruption coming down from their Chain of Command.
This 'setup' is disgusting… and horrifically dangerous.
unfortunately, there are vastly too many LEOs in costume today that when push comes to shove will too often side with their paymaster before they uphold Oath to something they've never read or unable to comprehend.
Ask your favorite local LEO to describe in their own words just three of the five parts of the 1stA. you're most likely to be greatly disappoint.
Religion (whatever a person wants to Think)
Speech (whatever words a person wants to say)
Press (whatever words a person wants to write down)
Assembly (whoever a person wants to visit and/or stand with)
Redress (to telling the fucking scum that have infested Government to go shove their deadly "Rules" back up their demonic ass where it came from)
