President Biden offered some more insight into why he dropped out of the presidential race on Sunday during an interview with CBS News, and said his Democratic colleagues told him his campaign would hurt members of the party down-ballot.

"A number of my Democratic colleagues in the House and Senate thought that I was going to hurt them in the races. And I was concerned if I stayed in the race, that would be the topic, you’d be interviewing me about why did Nancy Pelosi say -why did - and I thought it’d be a real distraction," Biden told CBS News' Bob Costa.

Biden announced at the end of July that he would be bowing out of the presidential race and quickly endorsed Vice President Harris. Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Sen. Chuck Schumer and other Democrats reportedly called on Biden to drop out in private in the weeks following his first debate with Donald Trump.

"The polls we had showed that it was a neck-and-neck race, it would have been down to the wire," Biden added.

In his first interview since he was very clearly ousted from the 2024 race, President Biden specifically mentioned former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) - telling CBS News Sunday Morning that Democrats in the House and Senate thought he would drag down the entire party's chances of reelection.

"When I ran the first time, I thought of myself as being a transition president. I can’t even say how old I am — it’s hard for me to get out of my mouth," he continued, adding that it was a combination of those factors, along with the priority of "maintaining this democracy," that steered 'his' decision, the NY Post reports.

Pelosi, meanwhile, is acting very strange about the whole thing - suggesting that Biden's letter announcing his withdrawal from the race wasn't written by him. (duh)

As modernity.news reported last week, it was widely reported that Pelosi told Biden that he could either step down "the easy way" or be removed "the hard way." Biden is apparently furious with her, as mentioned by interviewer Lesley Stahl in this clip.

Pelosi Admits Others May Have Written Biden’s Dropout Letter Against His Will (VIDEO)

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Sunday questioned the authenticity of Joe Biden’s dropout letter.

Joe Biden dropped out of the 2024 race on July 21. He posted his dropout letter to X and then endorsed Kamala Harris.

According to NBC News, an official statement announcing Biden’s decision to drop out was already written by the time he finished a phone call with senior advisors on July 21.

One minute after he hung up the phone, Biden’s dropout letter was posted to his X account, according to NBC News.

Biden clearly did not write the letter. He also didn’t post the letter to X.

“By the time Biden convened a call with his full complement of senior advisers at 1:45 p.m. Sunday, an official statement announcing his decision had already been written. One minute later, his X account posted that statement, telling the public that he would remain in office but cede his party’s nomination — making him the first eligible incumbent president to do that since Lyndon Johnson in 1968. Less than 30 minutes after that, he endorsed Harris, blessing her as the best choice to beat Trump in a four-month sprint to Election Day.” NBC News reported last month.

Nancy Pelosi accidentally blurted out the truth during an interview.

“I didn’t accept the letter as anything but a letter. I mean, I mean in another, there are some people who were unhappy with the letter, let me say, some said that some people were unhappy with the letter,” Pelosi said.

Pelosi questioned the authenticity of Biden’s dropout letter and suggested others may have written Biden’s statements against his will.

“I’ll put it in somebody else’s mouth because it was a, I don’t even know. It didn’t sound like Joe Biden to me. It really didn’t,” Pelosi said.
