The usual reason for putting up a poll is NOT to obtain a sampling of followers. Instead, polls are used to validate positions and opinions - and thus the polls are usually biased. This poll gives the participant two options to choose from, when the reality is entirely different. It allows for conflation of things that are not normally associated as well.
