Monroe Regional Airport supports U.S. Army 101st Airborne Division in large-scale training exercise
Over the next two days, Monroe Regional Airport is playing a crucial role in supporting U.S. Army operations as part of a significant training exercise. The 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) has made a strategic stop at the airport to refuel and resupply during their Large-Scale Long-Range Air Assault (L2A2) mission.
The exercise is a key component of the division’s preparation for assault training objectives at Fort Johnson, Louisiana. The operation involves multiple stops along the flight path, with primary refueling and resupply locations in Oxford and Tunica, Mississippi, as well as Monroe, Minden, and Alexandria, Louisiana.
Colonel Travis McIntosh, deputy commanding officer of the 101st Airborne Division, expressed gratitude for the support provided by the Monroe community.
“As you can see behind me, we have 12 aircraft on the ground here, and we’re cycling other aircraft through on their way to Fort Johnson, Louisiana. Monroe Regional Airport has been a staging base for us to conduct maintenance and to bed down some of our aircrews,” said Col. McIntosh. “The integration and cooperation where we’re actually getting help from those local communities— I just want to say thanks for all of that assistance along the way.”
