I like IcarOS, as well. I still have an amithlon laptop, but it's in the closet. My A500 took a dive off a top shelf a few years back, breaking the case, so I sold off all the chips, keyboard and mobo. I think I have the old CBM brick power supply and an old DB9 Joystick somewhere. Plastic bin of old floppies made it over from the move.
Don't care what anyone says, as far as I'm concerned the AmigaOS/Workbench was the greatest computer OS. Knowing what I know now about the Cabal™, I understand why Medhi Ali was brought in to destroy Commodore.
Amiga was a threat to Microsoft. I met Dave Haynie 25 years ago, when I was still doing the con thing and they originally planned the A3000 to come with the AGA chipset and be the last of the "Legacy Amigas" before migrating over to X86 and off the shelf parts, focusing solely on the OS. Ali killed that. Very disappointing. I like AROS, but I never found enough functionality to make it useful to me and sadly, I'm tied to Windows due to proprietary software I need for my dev work, just to make my pipeline faster as an indie developer.
I always wanted a Falcon, specifically for MIDI, as I was doing a lot of music back then. I used OctaMED first and the Bars & Pipes, but I always ran into processor problems, as I was stuck on beefed up 68000, until I snagged an A3000, barebones. Had to sell off all my Amigas I used for video work, when I hit financial troubles in the late 90s. When I recovered, I bought a stock A1200 when that "Amiga Inc" company appeared. Within a year, though, I realized my future was on Windows with 3D Studio, instead of Lightwave. Then, migrated to Maya/ZBrush. Not all that fond of Blender.
The late 80s and early 90s were the pinnacle of computer operating systems. So much competition, kept everyone evolving. Now, it is the same and stagnant.
