Any conductive metal container (without holes) will cause EM radiation to flow through the metal and around the contents of the container without EM radiation present inside the container. If there are holes, the container attenuates the signal based on the size of the hole(s). A container with a hole is a "Faraday cage" and a container without holes is a "Faraday shield." The better the conductor (aluminum < copper < gold), the better the maximum attenuation of the signal is because it can channel more of the radiation per unit volume.
Any electrical connection from anything inside the box to the box itself makes that connection part of the shell and this makes it subject to the EM current flowing through it. In other words, don't have conductors touch the container.
In other words, put shit in a metal box if you want it to be immune to EMP. Easy peasy.

Truth. OP was about EMP, not DEW. Anything that resonates the atoms/molecules with high enough energy will cause heat, even in a Faraday shield. Best suggestion I can think of for that would be cooling the hell out of a Faraday shield if an attack is detected. You'd have to cool more than the attacker can heat, which is likely a losing fight.
