The pattern that sets up is that people support free speech, people can't make enough money, people open up to donations or crowd funding. It seems like at some point there needs to be a new way or model to get money for things that are supporting rights.
Aligning values would work, but I wonder how many people are throwing money at things that are not aligned with their values.
