They're just asking to get electrocuted.

Back in the 1990s I worked in a large corporate office in which the receptionist (on the main floor) would page us employees, by name, whenever a call rang into the switchboard for us.

I had a colleague whose last name sounded almost identical to mine, so whenever one of us would get paged we invariably took the other person's call by accident because the acoustics on the paging system was not the best.

It was hard to tell "Mr. Smith" apart from "Mr. Smythe" on that system. . . .

Well, one Monday morning the Chief of the office sent an email out to the staff on all four floors of the building, as well as to the staff of all the other offices around the country.

I'll never forget it.

The subject line of the email just said "SAD NEWS."

The email went on to explain that my colleague, Mr. Smith, was struck by lightening on his ranch on Saturday, and he had died instantly.

I never had to worry about whether the receptionist was paging Mr. Smith or me, after that, but dammit, I miss the guy.

So if you're ever outside, even if there are no visible signs of lightning, get inside.

RIP Steve.

I do believe this is the calm before the storm.

President Trump's return to X, last week, has moved us closer to the post he'll make, soon, starting with "My fellow Americans."

This reminds me of a great video I watched tonight; it's been on YouTube for only a couple of weeks and it provides a great glimpse into how consistent President Trump has been, from 1980 through this present time.

It's worth stopping what you're doing to watch, because you'll feel patriotic, you'll laugh, and you might even cry for what a great man President Trump has always been.

>you aren't Gen X

Correct.

I'm a Boomer.

Back then the crazy stunts we pulled involved ringing the neighbors' doorbells and running away before they answered the door.

That was about as daring as I got, though I went on to do some very dumb things like bungee jumping over a concrete parking lot, biking all over the western USA alone (no phone, no backup plan, no nothing), climbing fourteeners without equipment, etc., etc.

Now that I'm old I do all my daring stunts with a keyboard, and these are the most satisfying ones of all.
