I was a detective in So Cal….About once or twice a year I would have to work with the feds, usually the FBI, but occasionally other agencies too. ALL of them were arrogant pricks who didn’t know their ass from a hole in the ground. Most of them did not have enough common sense to fight their way out of a wet paper bag…After awhile, we begged our bosses to avoid ever working with the feds, totally useless people.
As a detective, when we had a good case we would interview the suspect to give them a chance to confess and make life easier for everyone. Then we would go file the case with the district attorney’s office for an arrest warrant…
If we had a weak case or almost no case, because of a lack of evidence, we would interview the suspect and Hope they confessed or slipped up enough that we could find the evidence. We’d start casually talking about this and that, trying to build a rapport. Then we would gradually get into the crime trying to get the suspect to give something away. When we were getting nothing of use, we would try and bluff the suspect into thinking we had all the evidence we needed. (We had nothing much to lose at that point). We might mention that we found a fingerprint on the window sill they came through, or we might say that a neighbor had seen them enter the victim’s yard to try and get a confession…..Most were smart enough not to fall for it (worth a try- what the heck). If the suspect KNEW we were bluffing, they would usually tell us one of two things, “Pound Sand!” or “If you got it, file it!”. Meaning if you have a good case, go file it with the D.A. and get a warrant.
The more I hear “Trust the Plan” and “We have it all!” the more I start to think, our side is BLUFFING. At this point on those 40,000 sealed indictments and everything else you claim to have….IF You GOT IT, Use It!
