I am only interjecting because you obviously do not read history.

 

In America's "wild weat" age of the 1800's and surely before refrigeration, a silver dollar would be dropped into a glass of milk. That silver dollar would keep the milk from spoiling for up to a week. Why might one ask? Because silver ions are anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-viral.
