>Looking to move out of Florida here soonish can't find gainful employment and in a rough spot. Already probably going to be taking a bus or train to get there and can't afford first/last month at the moment.
Been there, done that. Advice is: if you have a roof over your head right now, do whatever you can to keep it. Fall is weeks away. Being homeless in winter sucks……..don't be that person.
I once came into a small town on foot. Flat busted after discharge from military. Had a buddy to stay with a few days and nothing else.
Town has a 6 block business district. I went door to door to every business with my gloves in my back pocket and a small pad of paper with my contact info. Left empty handed and discouraged. Had an old farmer pull up to the place I was (luckily) staying and asked if I was the guy looking for work.
Pulled up and rolled a half mile of barb wire fence that day. Ate "lamb ham" with the hands for lunch (7th Day Adventist). Neighbor across the highway baling hay watched me work all day, came across at quitting time and asked if I was working for "Jack" full time. I said no, just today. He took me to his place, gave me a farm rig and said be back before 7am. I ended up working for him for 7 years. Been here for nearly 50. Get out and burn some boot leather.
