Smart lenses

The Polaris Dawn crew will wear smart contact lenses in space to monitor their intraocular pressure, in efforts to learn more about Spaceflight Associated Neuroocular Syndrome, or SANS, as part of a University of Colorado Boulder research experiment.

This is just one of 36 science and research experiments from 31 partner institutions flying with the Polaris Dawn crew. Learn all about them here → polarisprogram.com/science-resear…

The crew has put extensive time and effort into ensuring the mission will help expand our knowledge of human health in space.

A few months ago, teams released a significant amount of findings from similar projects conducted during the Inspiration4 mission: nature.com/immersive/d428…

"The Space Omics and Medical Atlas (SOMA) package of manuscripts, data, protocols, and code represents the largest-ever compendium of data for aerospace medicine and space biology. Over 100 institutions from >25 countries worked together for a coordinated 2024 release of molecular, cellular, physiological, phenotypic, and spaceflight data."

I expect to see similarly impactful data from the Polaris Dawn mission and future Polaris Program missions!
