Probably 1/3 of the laws given by Moses were towards health and sanitation. The Slaves had no idea how to not kill themselves with pathogens and outbreaks of food borne illness and bacteria. If we go into an apocalypse many will die from assuming things are clean or preserved. Almost no one knows how to use fermentation, salt and smoke to preserve foods. How many will drink unboiled water ?
