In the UK we can expect the first gene-edited wheat to be harvested this year. In the US, gene-edited salad leaves aren’t far behind.

Japan approved “super-tomatoes” that can “lower your blood pressure” years ago now.

Genetically edited potatoes are being created in South America. Wheat in Egypt. Cotton and maize in Ethiopia.

Back in 2022, I reported that gene-edited foods were already being sold to the public as “cheaper”, “more nutritious” and “preventing future pandemics”.

The prime minister has reportedly ordered the government to prepare recommendations within 48 hours for a strong response to Hamas over the execution of the six hostages: Hersh Goldberg-Polin, 23, Eden Yerushalmi, 24, Ori Danino, 25, Alex Lobanov, 32, Carmel Gat, 40, and Almog Sarusi, 27.

According to quotes published by Hebrew media on Monday, Netanyahu also defended the cabinet’s vote in favor of his position of maintaining an Israeli military presence along the Gaza-Egypt border under any potential deal.

Canadian-born writer Jennifer Szalai’s recent article for The New York Times calls the U.S. Constitution a ‘threat to American Democracy’ that is ‘beyond redemption.’

Szalai’s piece, ‘The Constitution Is Sacred. Is It Also Dangerous?’ suggests that the document may be one of the biggest threats to America’s politics, describing it as “a document that is essentially antidemocratic and, in this day and age, increasingly dysfunctional.”

She criticizes the Electoral College and laments the Constitution’s protection of minority rights as a “tyranny of the minority” and a “disempowerment of majorities” and blames the founding document for being responsible for President Trump’s election in 2016.

Szalai writes, “Americans have long assumed that the Constitution could save us; a growing chorus now wonders whether we need to be saved from it. The document that’s supposed to be a bulwark against authoritarianism can end up fostering the widespread cynicism that helps authoritarianism grow.”

“Trump owes his political ascent to the Constitution, making him a beneficiary of a document that is essentially antidemocratic and, in this day and age, increasingly dysfunctional.”

“After all, Trump became president in 2016 after losing the popular vote but winning the Electoral College (Article II). Army Ranger turned lawmaker wants Congress to alter war on terror authorization to hit Iran proxies

The AUMF gives the president of the U.S. authority to use the military to go after organizations, nations and groups that have been determined to aid terrorist attacks to the country.

House Foreign Affairs Committee member Rep. Warren Davidson, R-Ohio, said that there have been talks among members of Congress about modifying legislation to push the Pentagon to be tougher on Iran for attacks on U.S. soldiers.

"There is a discussion about that, and how do we deal with the Houthis," Davidson said on the "Just the News, No Noise" TV show. "I mean, they clearly are a terrorist organization, so the designation of them as a terrorist organization should be done."

At the start of this year, the Biden administration re-designated the Houthi militant group as a terrorist organization after delisting the Iran-backed group, formerly known as Ansarallah, as a Foreign Terrorist Organization less than one month into office.

This decision comes after the Houthis launched multiple attacks for months on U.S. military forces and other vessels in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.

Republicans have frequently expressed concerns about the Biden-Harris administration and its foreign policies, including the 2021 Afghanistan withdrawal and the increasing tension with the Houthis in the Red Sea.

Regarding some of the foreign policy concerns, Davidson said some of the issues can be traced back to the 2001 authorization that goes back to al-Qaeda.

"This thing's been tortured to death," he said. "It's time to really restate our AUMF….[the] Authorization for Use of Military Force."

The AUMF gives the president of the U.S. authority to use the military to go after organizations, nations and groups that have been determined to aid terrorist attacks to the country.

"I think one of the things that we should do is not only look at the Houthis as a terrorist organization backed by an Iran proxy war, but also look at the right of navigation," Davidson said.

He explained that the threat to America is the disruption of shipping lanes.

"America does have an interest in keeping those shipping lanes open, and I think we can do that without getting drawn into a broader war," he said.
