wouldn't it be much simpler to just go back to the foundry where this was made, have them find the casts, and cast a new one?

I know that the statues of Sargent that are so common in Boston and in New England are able to be readily replaced.
perhaps because it was Europe and they went through 2 world wars, maybe the metal would have been to valuable to make into shells so they melted it an reused it.
