Can't say for sure, but one thing I have noticed is POTUS has been back and forth between Bedminster and Palm Beach a lot more than usual this year. Probably to do with his trial and campaign schedule, but normally since leaving the WH, it's been Bedminster for the spring/summer and Mar-a-Lago for the fall/winter.
Fuckers could just be bugging people in his orbit, looking for comms for opportunities to strike, OR a rogue agent aware of his schedule made a phone call to whoever would issue the GO order for some pre-planned attack plan. I have no doubt some group somewhere is war gaming hypothetical assassination attempts on the regular.
