I just dumb lucked into a 1925 hard copy of US law. It has the full Constitution that I've honestly never seen or heard. I intend to scan it and upload it in the near future here. Couple things, those likely use Ni-Cad. Second, the video gives evidence to a 'detonation' w/a loud pop. This tells you it was an explosive charge, not a battery.
Someone probably pointed out their cell phones are tracked and gee golly, suggested using all these old pagers they just happened to have (wink nod)… I don't know how it went down, but whoever the poor bastard was that talked them into pagers better run and hide if he isn't dead.

For all we know, he was an anonymous accomplice who brought the weapon and got pissed when Routh turned tail so he dimed him out.
