I don't remember "snake hunters", but I do remember the media reporting that Russia was missing 100+ tactical "backpack" or "suitcase" nukes, each weighed only a hundred pounds; and then later the media started reporting on Chinese illegal immigrants, playing on our fears of perhaps that either China or middle Eastern terrorists might be sneaking those nukes across the border.
Sorry, those reports are so old that I am having a hard time digging up sauce. I am just an old anon who is relying on memory.
