However, on Friday, X’s legal representatives announced that the platform has taken steps to comply with the Brazilian court’s demands to help resolve the impasse and get the ban on the site lifted.

These steps include paying the fines X owes, blocking the accounts that de Moraes had previously accused of propagating misinformation and of undermining Brazilian democracy, and naming a legal representative in the country.

Update(1312ET): For the second time since Friday, Israel has launched a major strike on the southern Beirut neighborhood of Dahiyam, in what the IDF says was a targeted strike on senior Hezbollah leader Ali Karaki. In last Friday's strike several Hezbollah commanders were taken out, in an attack which also left many civilian casualties. Karaki's fate is unclear at this point. He's widely reported to be Hezbollah's head of its southern front operations.

This has been the heaviest day of fighting in nearly a year since Oct.7, with the IDF saying by Monday evening it has struck about 800 targets in Lebanon today alone. "The IDF is striking to remove threats to Israeli civilians and degrade Hezbollah's terrorist infrastructure and capabilities," a statement said. Israel has also just declared an emergency "special situation" for the entire country as this looks to be the start of all-out war against Hezbollah in Lebanon. The total Lebanese death toll is fast approaching 300.

Jewish community most targeted religious group, new FBI hate crime report says

Because many major cities continue to not report hate crimes, the true state of antisemitism in the US is likely much worse than the record number of antisemitic hate crimes in the FBI’s data.

Antisemitic hate crimes accounted for 67% of all religiously motivated hate crimes recorded last year by the FBI, up by 11% from the year prior, according to the FBI’s 2023 Hate Crimes Report released Monday.

The FBI recorded 1,832 antisemitic hate crimes in 2023, a number the American Jewish Committee claims is likely much lower than the actual number of incidents as hate crimes are widely underreported across the country.

The FBI recorded 539 reports of property destruction, damage, and vandalism, as well as 437 reports of intimidation. Most incidents occurred at home, with fewer at synagogues or places of worship.

“Despite Jews only accounting for 2% of the US population, the community was the target of 68% of religiously motivated hate crimes committed in 2023,” AJC said in a statement.

“As the Jewish community is still reeling from Hamas’s brutal attack against Israelis on October 7, we are simultaneously contending with an earth-shattering increase in antisemitic violence,” AJC CEO Ted Deutch said in the statement. “The 1,832 reported antisemitic crimes – a staggering 63% increase from last year – have taken a severe toll on so many American Jews’ way of life.”

The IDF has revealed for the first time that Hezbollah is equipped with various models of cruise missiles it has attempted to fire at Israel. According to a video released by the IDF spokesman, a few weeks ago the air force detected and hit an attempted launch from a launcher concealed inside a house.

According to the information obtained by the IDF, the missile, labeled DR-3, has a range of 125 miles and can carry up to 660 pounds of explosives. Defining this missile as a "cruise missile" may stretch the definition slightly, since this missile is apparently a converted version of a jet-powered drone called Tupolev Tu-143 (Reys), or VR-3, which was developed in the Soviet Union during the Cold War.

The Tupolev 143 entered service in the Soviet army in the early 1970s as a drone used for gathering intelligence. The drone, which can be launched from a designated truck or from land-based launchers, can reach speeds of hundreds of miles per hour. However, its size, with a length of eight meters and a wingspan of over two meters, increases its radar signature and makes it easier to detect. Furthermore, the use of a jet engine can also increase its heat signature, making it easier for missiles that depend on heat to home in on it.
