D'Souza's constant droning about 19th century party politics translating into today is just silly. The Democrats of the 19th century were the party of limited government, free enterprise, opposition to gov't boondoggles and protectionism, etc…yes, the Southern Democrats supported slavery, but there were Northern Dems who opposed them.

The transformation into modern politics began when the classical liberal roots of 19th century politics was defeated in the Democratic Party itself, and by 1912 all three major candidates (Wilson, TR, and Taft) adopted virtually the same platform…slavery and race relations had NOTHING to do with that. Modern Democrats re-enslaved blacks with the welfare state and pit them against the rest of America not because they wanted to return to the days of chattel slavery, but because they were globalists that wanted to create dependency and division amongts Americans, and increase their power and ability to control.

D'Souza's not nearly as sharp as people think, and he's effectively a neocon that thinks the world began when Lincoln descended from Heaven to wash away the sins of the world.
