Grigori Rasputin (1871–1916) was a Siberian peasant monk who was a religious advisor to Tsar Nicholas II and Czarina Alexandra. He was a controversial figure who was believed to have healing abilities. His influence over the royal family led to public unrest and contributed to the downfall of the Russian monarchy.
