As RedState has reported, the damage left behind by Hurricane Helene was nothing short of devastating for many communities in the southeast. Western North Carolina was particularly hard hit by what was left of Helene, with massive amounts of rain that overwhelmed lakes and streams and caused widespread destruction. At least 35 have been confirmed dead with 600 said to be unaccounted for in Buncombe County as of this writing. Viral video clips circulating on social media show roads that have been washed away, interstates that partially partially collapsed, businesses completely flooded, and homes and vehicles being swept away.

REPORT: The Hurricane Helene de*th toll has risen to over 130 as survivors in western North Carolina describe seeing bodies stuck in trees.

Locals are describing the apocalyptic scenes on the ground as the official de*th toll continues to climb.

“There were bodies in the trees. They are finding bodies under the rubble,” said local woman Alyssa Hudson according to the NY Post.

Hudson explained how she made it out of her house before it collapsed.

Her friends in downtown Black Mountain described seeing bodies floating in ditches and residents fighting against the rising tide.

“We were a mountain town, but now we look like a farm town. It’s all destroyed… A lot of people won’t be back.”

The total damage from Hurricane Helene is currently projected to be about $34 billion, according to Fox.
