We do not have this equipment readily available because we have shipped large quantities of transformers and other electrical equipment to Ukraine. Both our military and non-military support for Ukraine has left us less prepared for domestic disasters like Hurricane Helene:

This is devastating. We do NOT have 360 substations worth of transformers and other electrical equipment sitting in stockpiles waiting to be deployed. recently signed a $422 million energy assistance deal with Ukraine, giving them materials needed by North Carolina right now including:
➡️1,093 generators

recently signed a $422 million energy assistance deal with Ukraine, giving them materials needed by North Carolina right now including:
➡️1,093 generators
➡️11 auto transformers
➡️460 tons transformer oil
➡️495 instrumental transformers
➡️203 power transformers
And BILLIONS more in aid.
