Write a letter. Tell him everything is going to work out in the long run. Tell him you don't want to argue over political differences. Tell him you want his last few years to be a fond memory, not endless bickering. Tell him you love him and you want what's best. Tell him to call you anytime. And leave it there. What difference does it make in the end, whether he finds out before he dies? He'll find out afterwards or none of it matters anyway.
