Garth Brooks 'accused of raping makeup artist' who worked for his wife Trisha Yearwood in new lawsuit

03 Oct 2024 By Sameer Suri

Garth Brooks has been accused of raping a makeup artist who worked for his wife Trisha Yearwood, a new lawsuit claims.

The Grammy-winning artist was accused of sexual assault and battery in a complaint filed in a state court in California on Thursday,

The plaintiff, who filed anonymously as 'Jane Roe,' alleges the country icon brought her with him to Los Angeles for a Grammy event honoring the R&B singer Sam Moore in May 2019.

In the suit, the plaintiff claims he booked only one hotel suite there for both of them, and when she asked for a separate accommodation, he would not provide one.

She accuses him of then accosting her in the doorway nude, hauling her into another room, dangling her upside down by the ankles and raping her, in court documents obtained by TMZ.

DailyMail.com has reached out to a representative for Brooks for comment. However, Brooks is said to have previously denied the accuser's claim.

Before the makeup artist filed her lawsuit, Brooks was aware of her allegations and anonymously filed to fight back, using the name 'John Doe,' as reported by CNN.

'Jane Roe' was originally hired to do hair and makeup for Yearwood in 1999, and Brooks eventually enlisted her to do so for him in 2017, she claims.

In her new lawsuit, the makeup artist alleges that Brooks would send her sexually explicit text messages, tell her about his sexual fantasies and discuss sex with her.

She also accuses him of exposing his buttocks and genitals to her on more than one occasion and repeatedly changing clothes in front of her.

According to the makeup artist's suit, Brooks allegedly made advances to her at his home in 2019, before the Los Angeles trip when she says the rape occurred.

She claims she was at Brooks' house, waiting for him to meet her so that she could apply his makeup, when he emerged naked and erect from the shower.

She alleges that he then 'grabbed her hands and forced them' onto his erection, telling her he harbored fantasies that she would perform fellatio on him while wearing her glasses until he would eventually climax onto her face.

The makeup artist accuses Brooks of raping her later that year when they traveled to Los Angeles for his appearance at the Sam Moore tribute.

In her lawsuit, 'Jane Roe' claims that she and Brooks did not typically travel alone together, but the Los Angeles trip was an exception.

'Usually there were others on Brooks’ private jet but this time, Ms. Roe and Brooks were the only two passengers,' the suit reads.

'Once in Los Angeles at the hotel, Ms. Roe could not believe that Brooks had booked a hotel suite with one bedroom and she did not have a separate room.'

She allegedly raised her objections to the arrangement and asked for a room of her own, but she claims Brooks would not budge on the matter.

At the hotel, she alleges, he 'appeared in the doorway to the bedroom, completely naked,' and she felt 'trapped in the room alone with Brooks.'

The plaintiff, who is said to be about five feet tall, claims he grabbed her by her ankles and held her upside down while he vaginally raped her. (How does work?

The makeup artist accuses Brooks of thrusting himself into her so violently that she 'felt as if she were breaking in two,' according to TMZ.

She continued working on his hair and makeup throughout the trip because she needed the job as a result of her financial difficulties, she says, adding that Brooks allegedly exploited her circumstances to his advantage. …

2024 ELECTION

Firefighters union declines to endorse a presidential candidate

The decision is a blow to Democrats, since the International Association of Fire Fighters endorsed Biden in 2020

The International Association of Fire Fighters announced on Thursday that it would not be endorsing a candidate for president this year.

The news is a particular blow to Vice President Kamala Harris, since the union was the first to endorse Joe Biden's presidential bid in 2020.

In a statement, Edward A. Kelly, the union's president, said that thegroup's executive board voted on Thursday by 1.2% not to endorse.

He added that the board "determined that we are better able to advocate for our members and make progress on the issues that matter to them if we, as a union, are standing shoulder-to-shoulder. This decision, which we took very seriously, is the best way to preserve and strengthen our unity."

The union represents over 350,000 firefighters, emergency medical workers and rescue workers throughout the U.S. and Canada.

Both presidential campaigns made personal appeals to the union’s members at a convention in Boston in August, with Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and Sen. JD Vance of Ohio speaking at the event.

Harris also addressed union members during a separate IAFF legislative conference in Washington, D.C., in March, before Biden dropped out of the race.

Although the union came out quickly in backing Biden in 2020, four years earlier, the IAFF also chose not to get involved in the presidential race.

In 2019, Trump, then president, blasted the union's leadership, writing in a tweet: "The Dues Sucking firefighters leadership will always support Democrats, even though the membership wants me. Some things never change!"

In another tweet the same day, he touted the support union members, writing, "I’ll never get the support of Dues Crazy union leadership, those people who rip-off their membership with ridiculously high dues, medical and other expenses while being paid a fortune. But the members love Trump. They look at our record economy, tax & reg cuts, military etc. WIN!"

The Harris campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment Thursday.

In a campaign email, the Trump camp called it "another crushing blow to Kamala" and said the International Association of Fire Fighters is "the second high profile union to snub [Harris'] campaign in recent weeks following the Teamsters non-endorsement last month."

In September, the Teamsters union, which represents over 1 million truck drivers, freight workers and others, also declined to endorse a presidential candidate. But a survey of rank-and-file members made public by the group’s leadership showed that 60% of rank-and-file union members preferred to endorse Trump over Harris. Just 34% of members backed Harris.

The AFL-CIO and the United Auto Workers union — which represent millions of workers combined — have each endorsed Harris this cycle.

During his remarks to the union's members in August, Walz spoke about the importance of unions and how he is proud to be a “card-carrying” member of his state teachers union.

Walz said that when he and Harris are in office, they will “make sure you have all the resources and protections you need to do your jobs and your service is respected and that you come home safe every night.” He added that, if elected, Harris will sign the PRO Act, which would make it easier for unions to organize.

The next day, Vance, Trump's running mate, spoke at the convention and was met with several boos when he took the stage.

“This may come as a shock to you, but once upon a time I wasn’t a Trump guy either,” Vance said, noting that a firefighter friend named Matt from Dayton, Ohio, was ultimately one of the bigger influences in helping him come around on Trump.

“I changed my mind because he did a good job for the American people," Vance told the crowd…

‘12,000 Calls’ Made to Diddy Abuse Claim Hotline in 24 Hours, Attorney Says

Oct. 3, 2024

Attorney Tony Buzbee expects to increase the number of civil lawsuits he is filing against Sean “Diddy” Combs after receiving a new wave of calls from alleged victims.

During a news conference on Tuesday, Oct. 1, Buzbee said he and co-counsel — Andrew Van Arsdale of the AVA Law Group — planned to file 120 lawsuits after receiving more than 3,000 calls to a hotline they set up to report alleged abuse by Diddy.

On Wednesday, the attorney sat down for an interview with the Law & Crime network and said additional calls to the hotline have been pouring in.

“From the press conference we had yesterday, we’ve had 12,000 calls in about 24 hours. So, our Herculean task is to try to sift through every one of these calls and make sure that we’re identifying those who are victims and those who are witnesses and collect evidence,” Buzbee explained. “We have almost 100 people working on this task.”

The Houston-based attorney added that he’s trying to make sure the cases are air tight.

“The 120 [cases] that we announced yesterday, those are claims that we could file right now against Sean Combs, but we’re trying to make sure that when we file the cases… that we include every potentially liable party,” Buzbee said.

Of those 120 accusers, the attorney said 25 were minors at the time of the alleged abuse.

Buzbee claimed his firm has been able to corroborate the allegations via videos, pictures, text messages, police reports and hospital records.

“Most of these events and incidents occurred at parties and afterparties, or album release parties, New Year’s Eve parties, Fourth of July parties, something they called a ‘puppy party,’ and all-white parties,” Buzbee said Tuesday.

The attorney noted that the alleged abuse occurred over 33 years — from 1991 to 2024, and he claimed the names of some of those who were complicit “will shock you.”

In response to the news conference, an attorney for Diddy released a statement saying the music mogul “cannot address every meritless allegation in what has become a reckless media circus.”

“That said, Mr. Combs emphatically and categorically denies as false and defamatory any claim that he sexually abused anyone, including minors,” attorney Erica Wolff said. “He looks forward to proving his innocence and vindicating himself in court, where the truth will be established based on evidence, not speculation.”
