It's not deliberate. At the end of an age the entire population has forgotten the reasons why any of this exists, and so it's nothing but people copying things they don't understand. The bullshit is caused by arguments where nobody understands what's what, and by entrenched powers unwilling to admit they have no idea what they're doing.
Long story short, the people running the world (yes, they already have control of all the world's governments) got caught with their whole damn arm in the cookie jar, right up to the shoulder. Yet because nobody really understands how any of this works, there is nobody to take over when they inevitably collapse. Anons' job is to dig, learn, grow and become those that the world will need in order to replace those failed powers.
