Look back at pictures from the 1960's and '70's at Iran, Lebanon, Afghanistan, etc. Their societies were not different from Western countries…in freedom, women's rights, culture and dress. The caliphates destroyed freedom of all kinds in those countries. I had a good friend in college whose family escaped Iran in '79 when the Ayatollah took power. He taught me in detail how dire it was to live under that regime. I don't know if it's any of America's Goddamn business to get entangled with that mess. But those human beings are living under a tyrannical rule.
