Teamsters president Sean O’Brien told comedian Theo Von that the Democrats “have fucked us over for the last 40 years,” adding, “We’re standing up as a union — saying, ‘What the fuck have you done for us?'”
“I’ll be honest with you, I’m a Democrat, but they have fucked us over for the last 40 years, and for once — and not all of them — but for once, we’re standing up as a union, probably the only one right now, saying, ‘What the fuck have you done for us?'” O’Brien told Von on the This Past Weekend podcast.

Justice Samuel Alito wrecked the government’s defense of the ATF “ghost gun” rule during oral arguments Tuesday by asking if eggs and peppers are an omelet.
Breitbart News reported that the case is Garland v. VanDerStok, and it is focused on ATF Final Rule 2021-05F. A central part of this rule was redefining what the word “firearm” means so as to designate “partially completed pistol frames” and other gun parts as “firearms.”
Justice Alito asked about “components” and the way they are defined in relation to a “weapon.”
He asked, “Here is a blank pad and a pen. Is this a grocery list?” The government answered no, citing numerous uses for the pad and pen.

New Reuters/Ipsos poll finds close race among likely voters
Washington, DC, October 8, 2024 –The latest Reuters/Ipsos survey shows that most Americans agree that the cost of living is the most important economic issue for the next president to prioritize, and former President Donald Trump enjoys a slight edge over Vice President Kamala Harris on the issue. The survey also shows that Harris and Trump are locked in a tight race at the national level among likely voters.

A quarter of Americans say the economy, unemployment and jobs (26%) is the most important issue facing America today, followed by political extremism and threats to democracy (17%) and immigration (16%). When it comes to economic issues, Americans believe that the next president should focus on the cost of living (69%), followed by a distant second and third place of “leaving me better off financially” (10%), and taxes (8%). WASHINGTON (AP) — A unique peek inside the human brain may help explain how it clears away waste like the kind that can build up and lead to Alzheimer’s disease.
Brain cells use a lot of nutrients which means they make a lot of waste. Scientists have long thought the brain has special plumbing to flush out cellular trash, especially during sleep – they could see it happening in mice. But there was only circumstantial evidence of a similar system in people.
Now researchers have finally spotted that network of tiny waste-clearing channels in the brains of living people, thanks to a special kind of imaging.
“I was skeptical,” said Dr. Juan Piantino of Oregon Health & Science University, whose team reported the findings Monday. “We needed this piece to say this happens in humans, too.”
