Yet ANOTHER X-flare. Very early, ongoing in fact, but appears to have peaked at X1.4. Lets hope its impulsive and not as violently productive as the one last night, which is projected to arrive 1200Z 10/10 and produce G4 severe geomagnetic storming for a couple of days. Aurora are projected to be visible in southern states of the US. Radiation storming is ongoing from the X1.8 last night, reaching S3 levels of over 1000 pfu. Don't fly near the poles or do your morning spacewalk.

No one here needs reminding that the SWPC forecast models have been consistently underestimating Earthside impacts lately due to using historical data algorithms. This one could get interesting.

As i was typing this, the initial radio analysis showed the flux to be high and contained an unusual indicator of significant CMEs…Castelli U-burst.

Eyes on. The coronagraphs should be interesting; hopefully not as interesting as last nights, but we likely won't have to wait long to know.

Source is reported from AR3842 which is departing on the west limb and likely anything produced there will not be earth directed. We still have the severe storm incoming from 3848 due to arrive 1200Z tomorrow. Eyes to the skies after dark tomorrow night.
