CHICAGO — Just weeks from election day, former President Donald Trump will return to Chicago for a conversation with The Economic Club of Chicago and Bloomberg News.
While Trump is not expected to win Illinois’ electoral votes in November, the Oct. 15 visit comes as the Republican Party presidential nominee aims to address business community leaders and members. Trump also spoke to members of The Economic Club of New York last month and will speak with the Detroit Economic Club on Thursday.
The visit marks Trump’s first return to Chicago since a heated July interview with members of the National Association of Black Journalists. Following that interview, Trump came under fire for statements he made questioning Vice President Kamala Harris’s racial identity, falsely claiming she “happened to turn Black.” Trump’s July visit also drew protests Downtown.
Though attendance at next week’s event will be limited to members of The Economic Club of Chicago, their guests and some press, the interview can be streamed live on Bloomberg News’ platforms and the economic club’s YouTube page, according to a Monday media advisory.
The interview will be moderated by Bloomberg News’ Editor-in-Chief John Micklethwait. The location of the conversation has not been not released as of Monday afternoon.
