The game of politics, played entirely within the gated communities of high society, is all about whatever you can 'force' other people to accept being adopted as truth. Whether or not that accepted truth has any relation at all to actual reality was mitigated by the general public providing an interface between whatever nonsense high society believed and the real world. Now that those within high society have decided to use the Internet to attempt to play their games with the entire world's population, there is nobody left outside who can provide that interface between their bullshit and reality, so it's all collapsing under the massive weight of hubris.
