Vet anon here who has lost 4 close battle buddies to alcholism, liver failure due to medications for pain and depression, drug addiction and suicide. One of my favorite subordinates that I mentored from E-1 E-4 and through a 14 month deployment just spent 4 years homeless diagnosed with schizophrenia, was living in his car fishing mountain creeks and ponds for his dinner too proud to seek help until I was able to get back in touch with him.
Anon also has sought treatment through the VA for PTSD and physical disabilities. While our work here was slow months ago, I started organizing thoughts and putting this together on what I think would be beneficial to rehabilitate and support those veterans who need help with reintegration and finding peace support and security at home.

I invited him to come live with us. Offered to help convert a tiny home and give him a place to stay for as long as he needed so we could work together squaring him away, but he declined afraid he would cause issues with my wife and kids. Sometimes we can get so far down we forget how to get back up.
