most successful academics are pretty wealthy by most standards

even when money is not above average, they have tenure = hard to fire

have more leisure and many more perqs than most of us, such as sabbaticals and time off during summers and between quarters

I do know what i'm talking about.

I'm talking about the academics who are successful i.e. get tenure track positions at 4 yr+ schools, move up the ranks (assistant assoc > full prof), etc, not about those who are working part-time, doing post-grad work or working as instructors not professors. Yes, must toe the line - and must usually be politically liberal to very left liberal. Why most colleges suck bigly.
