You are using the word "successful" ambiguously, suggesting that it refers to those who are objectively good in some real study while then using it to refer to those who actually get tenure-track jobs.
In reality, beyond a certain level of minimal competence, being actually good is a NEGATIVE selection factor.
FAR, FAR more ACTUAL COLLEGE PROFESSORS are paid BY THE CLASS than almost anyone realizes.
And the wages do not account for the prep and grading time that any conscientious academic will take.
The STUPIDEST most CLUELESS people in American society are quasi-conservative parents who "do the right thing" and aim to get their kids into the "right" schoos and pay for it.
Except they are being SYSTEMATICALLY DECEIVED on issues that go well beyond politics.

A HUGE HUGE proportion of the people who ACTUALLY TEACH CLASSES at colleges are so-called ADJUNCTS who get paid BY THE CLASS at what is often SUB-MINIMUM WAGE if you factor in prep time and grading time.
Colleges FLAGRANTLY LIE ABOUT THIS while collecting VAST SUMS OF MONEY from clueless parents and US taxpayers.
Even if a few of the adjuncts are literally shitposters on QR, they ALL have to toe the line and at least pretend to embrace the regime and many do really love Big Brother.
And while I might be forgetting something, right now I do not recall this issue EVER being discussed by even the most "based" and "intellectual" right-wing outlets.
